As you know, the Ann Kiley Center is on lock down and outside visitors are not allowed to visit. Staff and the residents are having their temperatures taken twice a day or more when needed. Frequent hand washing and the use of hand sanitizer are the norm. Please check with your family members' HPC (Habilitation Program Coordinator) or Unit Administrator for more information.
3/19/2020: Extra cell phones are supposed to be provided to the centers in order to use FaceTime, etc. Check with your HPC for further information. As of Friday, 3/20, the iPhones hadn't been received and the HPC who I talked to hadn't received instructions regarding the procedure to do this.
3/20/20: Per Tiffany Bailey, Associate Deputy Director of SODC Operations, we should not send or deliver any packages to the Center.
Retirement of Sheila Edstrom
As you most of you already know, Sheila Edstrom, our long time Social Worker and Transition Coordinator (and so much more!) retired effective 12/31/2019.
In order to honor her for her many years of service, the Friends of Ann Kiley Center board members held a luncheon for her in the Kiley Auditorium on December 27th. We presented a bouquet of roses to her, along with a VISA gift card for her use.
We greatly miss her already! Her depth of knowledge, calm demeanor and support for our organization and Kiley parents was a gift for all of us.
Good luck with your future endeavors, Sheila! Thank you!
The Friends of Ann Kiley Center often assists the center with funds to offer activities for the residents. As an example of the many weekly activities which the Ann Kiley Center offers to its residents, the residents had the opportunity to enjoy Fitness Classes, Bingo, Bowling, Open Gym, movies and a Friday Night dance recently. There should be a monthly calendar including activities offered posted in each resident's home. Please check with your son/daughter/relative's home manager for the location of the posting. If you have questions regarding the extent to which your loved one can participate in these activities, please check with the home manager and/or the HPC for more information.
